As part of London Craft Week, join us for a clay workshop sharing your experiences of living, working, playing, eating or visiting London. Contribute your own objects from home to our collection from the city and studio to construct your own tools that will then be used to create marks and impressions in clay.

You will then learn how to form your clay slab into items of tableware - a slab-built mug, a coil-moulded plate, a pinched egg cup. Over the weekend we will create a collaborative, London-centric dinner service.

There will also be the opportunity to learn a whole range of ceramic surface decoration techniques - inspired by tiles and bricks across the city - which can be used to decorate your piece of crockery and tell your London story. From inlaying coloured slips into scratched patterns to carving your very own plaster stamp.

The pieces will be fired after the workshop for you to collect and keep.

Alongside this event, Sugarhouse Studios - Turner Prize winners Assemble's Studios (where our studio is based),  will also be putting on an Open Studio on the 11th and 12th May which is FREE and you are welcome to attend!

There will be opportunities to see work and studios by artists, carpenters, ceramics, printmakers, metal-workers and many more!
